The implementation of RUG-IV has hit a snag due to the pending Health Care Reform in both the House and Senate.
In a interesting twist of fate, CMS may be delayed in its implementation of the RUG-IV in October 2010 due to the Health Care reform.
The Senate version of the legislation would delay some of the RUGs IV changes until Oct. 1, 2011. The House health care reform legislation implements RUGs IV as of Oct. 1, 2010, as currently scheduled. Members of the House and Senate will have to resolve this difference in the two bills in drafting the final provisions of health care reform.
