House Unanimously Approves Bill- Last evening, the Health and Human Services Committee in the State House of Representatives unanimously voted in favor of HB 1429, PANPHA's Joint Surveyor-Provider Training Bill--representing the first major hurdle to cross before the bill can become a law.
This proposal, which is simply about creating better education programs for senior service providers and the regulators that inspect them, will now likely be referred to the Appropriations Committee in the House for review.
PANPHA is the only major association actively working for passage of this "common sense" bill, and this first step having been taken is due to the grassroots advocacy efforts of our members. Our thanks goes out to each of you who contacted your legislator encouraging them to act.
Make no mistake, however, this is not the end of the effort--much work has yet to be done. PANPHA will continue to press the importance of this bill inside the Capitol, and will let members know when and where to direct their advocacy next on this issue.
